CARES Dementia Basics
The CARES Program aims to help care partners Connect with the Person, Assess Behavior, Respond Appropriately, Evaluate What Works, and Share with Others
The DEER Program is excited to offer scholarships for CARES® Online Dementia Care Training Certifications to Nevada residents and those who provide support to people living in Nevada. CARES® is a nationally recognized, award-winning, evidence-informed set of programs to improve your dementia-care skills. This program is designed to teach family and professional care partners person-centered approaches to help those living with dementia.

in English
Provides care partners with the core or “basic” information needed for dementia care, with a focus on person-centered care. The modules are:
- Meet Clara Jones (Introduction to Person-Centered Care)
- Introduction to Dementia
- Understanding Behavior as Communication
- The CARES® Approach
Dementia Basics
in Spanish
Provides care partners with the core or “basic” information needed for dementia care, featuring all program text, audio narration, video closed captioning (CC), and the certification exam in Spanish. The modules are:
- Meet Clara Jones (Introduction to Person-Centered Care)
- Introduction to Dementia
- Understanding Behavior as Communication
- The CARES® Approach
Dementia CARES
for Families
Tailored specifically for family care partners of people living with dementia. The modules are
- Understanding Memory Loss
- Living with Dementia
- Using the CARES® Approach
- Keys to Success with CARES®
All three CARES Dementia Basics programs are approved for FREE CEUs!
