A recent webinar from LifeLoop features DEER Program Director Jennifer Carson alongside leaders in aging services, focusing on how communities can better support people across the full spectrum of cognitive change. The conversation centers on what it takes to create environments where people living with dementia are included, respected, and able to remain connected to daily life in meaningful ways.
One of the examples shared comes from Sherbrooke Community Centre, where the approach to care has been intentionally redesigned to reflect trust, relationships, and shared responsibility. Rather than relying on restrictive or purely safety-driven models, their work demonstrates how community design and culture can shift to better support autonomy, connection, and belonging for people living with dementia.
Across the discussion, a consistent theme emerges: when we listen to and learn from people living with cognitive change, we gain insights that strengthen communities as a whole. We are glad to share this webinar and to highlight Jennifer Carson’s continued leadership in advancing dementia-inclusive approaches.
