Community Group Member Spotlight – Carolyn Davis
I became a member of Dementia Friendly Nevada because I think it is important to never stop learning and growing in how you can serve others living with dementia and those caring for them.
What is one thing you wish others knew about becoming a new member of Dementia Friendly Nevada?
That the more members we have the bigger impact we can make.
What is one of your hopes for how your community can become more respectful, educated, supportive, and inclusive of people living with dementia?
I hope that Douglas County can more dementia inclusive and help educate community to identify those living with dementia so they can provide support and treat those living with dementia as a vital part of our commmunity.
What is one myth or misconception about dementia that you’d like to dispel or clarify?
That there is no such thing as “behaviors,” rather, the lack of ability to effectively communicate.

Community Group Impact
The Douglas County Community Group held its Bingo kick off event on March 23, 2023. Over 60 community members attended the kick off event. The first community group meeting was held on April 26, 2023 and had eight community members. We are seeking additional members to join our community group.
