DEER Resource Center

The DEER Program is a hotbed of innovation, and we are frequently building and finding exciting, forward-thinking programs and resources that can help people living with dementia and care partners in Nevada to live well. We believe these programs shouldn’t just be ours to offer; they belong to Nevada!

That’s why, whenever we develop something new, we make it freely available as widely as possible through the DEER Resource Center, an effort funded with American Rescue Plan dollars through the Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division. In doing so, we are building capacity within our state, helping all organizations to better support their constituents and creating a Nevada that is better able to support its citizens’ well-being. For all available programs, based on available funding, we provide the following to any adopting organization:

All necessary materials for program implementation

Strategies and resources to assist with participant and volunteer recruitment

Assistance in locating grant funding to support the program

A series of in-person training sessions covering all aspects of the program

Continued technical assistance via quarterly drop-in help sessions

What’s available through the DEER Resource Center?

The following programs are available for other groups and organizations to adopt and implement, free of charge!

Dementia Conversations is a twice-weekly, Zoom-based public discussion forum for people living with dementia and care partners to share their experiences and explore practical strategies for living well with dementia.

Dementia Friends is a 90-minute information session offered in English and Spanish, that covers the basics of dementia, strategies to reduce the risk of developing dementia, activities to better understand the experiences of people living with dementia, and approaches for effective communication.

Community Groups

There are currently 11 Dementia Friendly Nevada Community Groups across the state. Interested in learning more? Click here to see if there is an active group in your area!

NEST Programs are virtual, volunteer-hosted social support and technology assistance programs that are available for any organization in Nevada to adopt and implement.
